saltmotion was born out of two distinct passions – surfing and photography.
Each day around mid morning the saltmotion website is uploaded with the latest photos predominantly featuring the surf and conditions with a lean towards fine landscapes and early morning beach scenes. The quality of the photography is what drives the morning reports and sets us apart. A daily pursuit of getting the perfect photograph. These reports will hit your inbox Monday to Friday. An un-obtrusive elegantly designed email that can be viewed quickly or pawed over and commented on throughout the day.
To receive the daily reports (free) simply enter your email address in the box at the top right of this website.
The saltmotion gallery and café located in Manly is a place where the online world is merged with reality offering a place to view the artworks you see in our daily reports in their full splendor. They look good on a computer screen; they look amazing in real life. It is also a place to hang out, indulge in the finest quality coffee and cakes with a clear conscience, as everything is organic, fair trade and prepared with care.
saltmotion is not just about photography though. There are contributing artists, illustrators and sculptors works on display at different times as well as funky exclusive clothing lines. We also run special event evenings, which you can find out about, by being on our subscription list.
Everything we do needs to fit a certain style. We are beach people and don’t want to change that. At the same time we take what we do seriously and ensure that the works on display in our gallery are of the very best quality and finished to a first class standard. Saltmotion is a hobby, a passion and also a business, which is how we can continue to deliver the daily reports to your inbox for free.
The saltmotion team
Joel Coleman - Photographer / the one at the beach early with the camera. As the photographer for saltmotion, it is my work you see on a daily basis and my bad spelling that you cringe at. I do my best to bring you something special each day. I really hope you enjoy the updates and I always look forward to your emails and comments. However there is a lot more to saltmotion than the photographs and ramblings of a barefoot, long haired, surfing, camera geek. It is the team of people listed below that make saltmotion something special. Something I hope you can feel a part of. |
||
Sherrie Daley – Gallery manager / Illustrator. Time consuming, detailed illustrations that are so real they have been confused for ph otographs are only one of Sherrie’s talents. Paintbrush in hand, she can produce some amazing work and if your lucky enough to hear her sing… Add to that a natural ability to run a business and “get things done” and you start to see just how important Sherrie is to the saltmotion team. |
||
Sep Ashkani – Café manager / T-shirt designer extraordinaire. Also part Cafe owner… she’s glam, she’s fab, she’s Sep the sweety!! You’ll find Sep’s art also on the DXD range of shirts but what she loves the most is real paint and canvas. In her spare time you’d be sure to find her with paintbrush in one hand, coffee in the other. |

Marc Desveaux – Café manager / T-shirt designer extraordinaire. Hailing from the tropical island of Mauritius, Marc is right at home on the sunny Northern Beaches. Being our resident graphic artist, barista slash cafe owner, he can whip up a mean cup o joe while dishing up wearable art candy that will keep you smiling season after season… Pinup tatt look like someone we might know?? |
||
Marley – the store dog (little pig / The Frenchy). On occasion you might find our resident trouble maker Marley running a muck in the gallery. She’s still a pup at 1 year old but is a clever little thing… If she’s in the mood try one of these tricks: ‘Sit’, ‘Wave’, ‘Give me five’, ‘Bang!’, and if your really lucky… ‘roll’. |
