Port Jackson Sharks

salt and rockYesterday was one of those magic days in Sydney where the ocean glasses off and the diving was pretty amazing. I headed over to The Bower, one of the major surf breaks in the area, and took a look at what lies beneath. The water clarity was great for Sydney and the sea life plentiful with several Port Jackson sharks swimming around. The word ‘shark’ might raise a few eyebrows amongst some of you, but don’t stress. Port Jacksons have a flat grinding plate (for eating molluscs) in place of teeth. You can read about them (here).
There is the beginning of a south swell in the water this morning. Most of it was pushing right past Manly and I only saw a few waves ridden. By high tide it will probably stop breaking. So head somewhere south facing or get some chores done. There is swell on the way for later in the week…

Enjoy your day,
Joel Coleman…
