There is a group of guys that surf the North Steyne part of the beach every morning. They all surf well and can handle a big day. At 6:30 this morning they were all sitting on the fence, watching, waiting… In the end one of them paddled out, snapped a leash and had to swim back in against the rip. A couple of other people had a go at the beach break but there was an element of luck involved to make it out during a lull. Get caught by a set and forget it… I really only saw a handful of waves ridden all morning. A few of the big wave spots in the area were showing some form for those with the right kind of skills. For the less experienced, just sit back today and enjoy watching…
