Yesterday’s dolphins…

April 15th, 2011

Lunchtime yesterday... Freshwater Beach

Yesterday turned out to be one of those days when something magic just happens… There was a pod of dolphins that I took a few photographs of in the morning that just hung around all day. Around lunchtime a friend gave me a call to say that the pod was just off the beach at Freshwater and not moving around too fast. A mad dash down there with camera in hand, a quick swim out and I was able to get pretty close to these amazing creatures for a while. Keeping up was difficult as even a slow swimming dolphin moves a lot faster than a camera lugging human!.. There are some more photos of the pod up on our facebook page.
This morning the junior competitors have taken over the lineup at Queenscliff. I always love photographing the warm-up sessions before a contest. I often see some of the best surfing going down then. Unfortunately there is not a lot of swell for them today. The good news is that should all change by either late this afternoon or tomorrow as there is a decent push from the south on the way.
The saltmotion gallery is open all weekend, Market Place, Manly, near the library. Come by and have a look at the photographic works on display…

Enjoy your day,
