Keeping pace in Calcutta…

November 25th, 2010

If you don’t go you never know… I’m in Calcutta, India. After two long haul flights and a domestic connection, I arrived here this morning. I’ve met up with some filmmaker friends who are ‘Surfing 28 States.’ I got talking to these guys about this project in a while back and before I knew it I was booking flights and then packing equipment to join them for the coastal leg of their journey. As there are a few things that need to be organised, we have met up in Calcutta before heading south over the next few days in search of what India has to offer wave wise. We have no idea what to expect, who will be there, what the surf will be like or where to look, but with a coastline this big, uncrowded perfection might well be around the next headland…

Today’s photos are my first introduction to India; the chaos, colour and confusion that moves to the sound of a thousand cars beeping their horns simultaneously – I’m just trying to keep pace, figure it out, and then find some waves to photograph…

Enjoy your day,

Joel Coleman…
