Surfing and politics
December 7th, 2009
There was a heavy fog filling the Manly area early this morning putting a big splash of grey across everything. The sun is breaking through now and it seems like it might be a really good day. Wave wise I think it was more fun out there than my photos indicate. There were a few peaks on offer and even though there was a slight hangover wobble on the faces there was no wind early and some decent rides to be had…
If you are looking for a really cool Christmas gift idea and like the no fuss approach then a saltmotion gift voucher is for you. Use them for prints, framed artworks or booking private surf photography sessions. They can be personalised with your own message and are delivered to your door… easy!..
I received the below email on Saturday and figured I would help get the word out, If you know Glen, please get in touch…
Greetings, I am looking to contact Glenn Ritchie. I was good mates with him in 70’s and 80’s. He was the first winner of the Bell’s Beach Surf Comp 1962. During those years he lived in Nana Glen (where Russle Crowe now lives) and built Outer Island Surboards with Mitchell Raye.
If you have any info or clues could you please email me. I am helping out a South African film maker who is looking for and old movie made in Jeffries Bay called African Vibrations 63 – 64. A board shaper called Clive Barber made the movie and brought it to Aus in about 69 and Clive lived with Glen Ritchie. I eventually took (76) two reels of film back to S.A. but they were from after the cut, The original complete movie is what he is looking for to put in his docco of Jeffries.
Hope You have a contact.
enjoy your day,
